Erie PA to Hamburg NY, Canadiagua and to Syracuse NY

The rest day in Erie was good, I rode down to Presque Isle, and stopped at the beach to get a good look at Lake Erie. Later at a cute diner. Had a very nice dinner, and in spite of a block party on the street outside the hotel a good nights sleep!
On Friday we headed out and crossed the New York State border early in the morning. The majority of the ride was parallel to Lake Erie through vineyards. Paula fell early in the ride and had to go to the ER, we all feared the severity of injury, but fortunately a minor concussion was it.
On Saturday we went through Orchard Park NY where by brother and family lived for a while. It was typical of the beautiful residential areas we have seen lately. Another beautiful day until the last 25 miles when a shower hit. It isn't so bad to ride in the rain if it's on the warm side and you are close to the end of the ride! 95 miles this day. Noreen, Scott and I are taking our time on these rides in the last week so that they won't rush by in a blur. So we are savoring the last 500 miles. It's impossible to convey the mixed emotions of anticipation, angst and trepidation we feel as we get closer to Boston.

On Sunday we had a late start because it was a short 65 miles to Syracuse. We passed the 3000 mile mark of our journey. More lovely country, and we had a brief visit at the Erie Canal. We are actually in Liverpool outside of Syracuse, so no visit to Robin's alma mater. We were treated to a little party by Achim and Alex to celebrate Achim's 58th birthday.

Look's very wet outside this morning, let's hope it stays clear for a safe and enjoyable ride today.
